Course Description
A study of American history from the election of Jefferson/Lewis & Clark; the Civil War and reconstruction of the South to the present, including post-Civil War conflict; Western expansion; agricultural, and industrial development; progressive reform and the New Deal; domestic and foreign policies since World War II; the struggle between Democracy and Communism focusing on east Asia (Korea/Vietnam); the United States involvement in the Middle East.
Classroom Expectations
All students are expected to:
- Be in your seat and prepared at the beginning of class.
- Bring all materials to class.
Homework
- Expect homework on a regular basis.
- Assignments will be posted on the board each day.
- Homework can be minimized by using class time to the best of your ability. If you stay on task, you will get more done.
- All late work will be accepted, however only for a maximum of half credit.
- For every one day you are absent you will have two days to complete assignments for full credit.
- Students may request work for vacations up to one week in advance.
Grading
A 100% - 94% A- 93% - 90% B+ 89% - 87%
B 86% - 84% B- 83% - 80% C+ 79% - 77%
C 76% - 74% C- 73% - 70% D+ 69% - 67%
D 66% - 64% D- 63% - 60% F 59% - 0%
Student Supplies
For 7th Grade American History, students will need the following:
- A single-subject notebook
- Color pencils (not markers)
- Pencils and or a pen
- Folder

- Raise your hand to participate in class
- Keep your hands, feet, objects and comments to yourself
- You will learn more if you pay attention and participate
- Use your time wisely and stay on task
- Cheating will not be tolerated. If you copy another student’s work both of you will receive a zero
